This Christmas we had this for dessert together with ice cream and chinese fried rice flour dumplings with sesame seeds and chocolate. East meets west in an exciting and yummy dessert!
Our new friend Can Liu, aka Gloria, taught me how to make these dumplings. Hard t make at first, but practice makes perfect. I’ll put the recipe up here soon.
Anyway… the citrus salad…
- Pour the sugar, the spices and the water in a small pan and bring it to boil. Let it simmer for a couple of minutes while you take care of the citrus fruit.
- Cut out the fillets of the oranges and the lemon and save the juice in a bowl.
- When the syrup is done, take it of the heat, let it cool for 2 minutes and then add the citrus fillets to the syrup. Add just a little of the juice as well.
- Let the syrup cool completely to let the flavors settle and just before serving, heat it up and spoon the fruit and the lovely syrup over cold vanilla ice cream.
